Official sales dealer ARRI Camera Stabiliser

Optical Support are now an official sales dealer for ARRI Camera Stabiliser Systems. This includes Trinity Stabilizer and Maxima Stabilizer.

TRINITY is the first hybrid camera stabilizer that combines classic mechanical stabilization with advanced active electronic stabilization, provided via 32-bit ARM-based gimbal technology. New angles for the operator and new storytelling options for the director and cinematographer are possible with TRINITY.
By inverting the post, the camera can be moved from low mode to high mode during a shot; using the joystick-controlled, fully stabilized tilt axis to look up or down during this motion is also possible, so a low angle can smoothly transition into an over-the-shoulder shot.By holding the post at 45 degrees and twisting it left or right, the camera can even look around corners, whether in low or high mode.

MAXIMA gimbal is a crucial component of TRINITY, but is also available separately as the MX30 – a 3-axis electronically stabilized gimbal. Its simple, lightweight design and perfect center of gravity provide new levels of freedom while its stable construction allows for compatibility with any camera system weighing 30 kg or less. At the center of the unique design is an extremely durable ball bearing roll cage as well as specially designed brushless motors. Optimized bearings and high torque ensure that there is always enough power in reserve, no matter how demanding the application. Carefully selected components enable seamless, reliable operation and impressive heat resistance.

Events Optical Support has attended so far in 2017!

Here at Optical Support we love attending events as it gives us a chance to talk to you and show you live our OS products we have.

BSC Expo
24rd Mar – 4th Feb 2017
Battersea Evolution, London

The BSC (British Society of Cinematographers) Expo had a wealth of innovations and engaging presentations which were enjoyed by the 4051 visitors to the BSC Expo two day show. The Optical Support team were there along with Flowcine and Inovativ to showcase their latest product additions.

We were met with attendance of really high quality film personnel and visited by a broad range of industry professionals and those who are newer to the industry.

It was at the BSC Expo that we unveiled our new Jackal Rickshaw which created a lot of interest and excitement! We were exhibiting with our friends from Flowcine who featured their black and dual arm.

28th Feb – 2nd Mar 2017
Excel London

BVE lists itself as the UK’s leading Entertainment and Media Tech event, with a 20-year history dedicated to the broadcast, production and post-production sectors. We at Optical Support were excited to be there and join the buzz.

In recent years, the show has evolved into an all-encompassing event that now covers, not only our Steadicam equipment from Optical Support, but you could also find more Connected Media, AV Systems Integration, Live Production, VR and creative sectors which complement Optical Supports products.

This year, BVE attracted more than 15,000 visitors, who attended to discover and learn about the latest products, services and trends from more than 300 leading manufacturers and distributors, including us at Optical Support of course.

Round-up of both events attended

Speaking with Chris Edwards, of Optical Support, he commented “We created the Jackal Rickshaw as a tracking vehicle for gimbal operators hand-held use and Steadicam. This has evolved and been developed from our Mantis, the industry standard camera rickshaw. It’s main difference being it’s light-weight, easy to set-up and pack-down. We showcased these at both events and both were well received.

We also showcased our Shotframe, which is a camera mount system which utilises the Betz Wave 1 and Flowcine Serene, all mounted on an Easy Rig. It has a square frame which tilts in the middle and can be adjusted and balanced to suit the camera load and uses the Wave to provide a rock-solid horizon.”

The highlights of Cinec

Optical Support exhibited their latest equipment at Cinec, The International Trade Fair for Cine Equipment and Technology, held in Munich in September. Camera and steadicam operators from Europe and around the world visited the stand. We exhibited with our friends Chris Salas, the Inovativ Sales Manager and Peter and Micke from Flowcine. All of the equipment complemented each other perfectly. The stand was the go-to for camera support and stabilisation.

The Optical Support Shot Frame combined with the Wave generated lots of interest, we had lots of questions about GPI PRO products and a lot of requests for the DB3 Locking System. The Viper 300 HD Video Link and the Wave also proved very popular. We’ve just had a busy few weeks finalising and sending out all of the orders which were placed at the show.

Our personal highlight – People smiling at us and watching as we took our Rickshaw on tour around the whole venue a few times.

Missed us this year at Cinec? Just give us a call or email to see if we can help with lens and steadicam needs.
