This course is essential in getting to grips with steadicam; either if you are beginning your journey learning or enrolling to enhance and progress on skills already started.

The course covers a wide curriculum curated in collaboration with the course leaders to maximise the coverage and essential skills. A massively underrated yet ket feature of this course is the ability to continue practice independently at our office with a large range of steadicam equipment, these sessions are unlimited.

It is Perfect for anyone looking to take the dive into becoming an operator but also a great opportunity for those who are interested in becoming adept as an assistant with the added benefit of keeping operating on the horizon.

The program covers a wide range of aspects in steadicam operating, from fundamental skills such as holding the frame to more complex manoeuvres such as working with a rickshaw. Jasper was a great teacher covering everything from the ground up giving us lots of opportunities to ask questions and clarify the complicated topics. Especially useful with fitting vests and what's involved in keeping good posture in the rig. I found having two peers on the course with me really helped me to understand how to do things efficiently or which problems to look out for. If I was struggling with hand position they could learn from my instruction, even if they weren't having the same issue. I also found that I was learning as much while resting from the rig as I was while moving with the steadicam. We covered an awful lot in three days, fully preparing us for self guided practice in the future. I feel that I’ve been provided all of the mental tools required to learn in my own time without developing bad habits or dangerous practices. I’d highly recommend this course to anybody looking to make their first steps into steadicam as either an assistant or operator.

Optical Support’s Tier 1 Steadicam Course was an incredible experience that gave me a strong foundation for my journey toward camera operating.
